DEA Street Crimes Unit Strengthens Operations With Additional Vehicle
The Drug Enforcement Agency’s Street Crimes Unit (SCU) has added a second high-powered operational vehicle to its fleet within the past four months, strengthening its ability to respond to crime-related incidents and community complaints.
Speaking during a brief engagement at the unit’s offices yesterday, SCU founder and operational commander Marius Cloete said the unit continues to experience rapid growth as demand for its services to assist the public and the community increases.
“The Street Crimes Unit is growing faster than anyone can imagine,” Cloete said. “This growth allows us to improve our operational readiness and support ongoing efforts to combat serious crime.”
According to Cloete, the additional vehicle will be used in crime-prevention operations, drug-related investigations, and intelligence-driven deployments, particularly where rapid response and visibility are required.
He further stated that the unit remains committed to addressing corruption and criminal conduct in both the government, public, and private sectors, noting that such activities directly undermine community safety and trust.
The Drug Enforcement Agency’s Street Crimes Unit operates as a crime-fighting organization focused on supporting broader law-enforcement objectives through information gathering, community engagement, and targeted operational support. The unit has emphasized the importance of cooperation with communities and relevant authorities, such as the South African Police, and other Law Enforcement Agencies in its approach to crime prevention.
Community members are encouraged to continue reporting criminal activity through appropriate channels to ensure coordinated and lawful responses, Cloete said.
