Street Crimes Unit (SCU)

The Street Crimes Unit (SCU) was founded in July 2024 by Marius Cloete, a seasoned crime combatting specialist in South Africa. Cloete also serves as the Operational Director and Commander of the High Risk Unit within the DRUG ENFORCEMENT AGENCY NPO

The SCU was established as a proactive response to escalating street-level criminal activity. Its core mission is to identify and dismantle emerging crime trends, organized crime series, and high-risk criminal networks that plague local communities.

Operating in close collaboration with the South African Police Service (SAPS) and other vetted law enforcement agencies, the SCU focuses on the following priority areas:

  • Human Trafficking

  • Gender-Based Violence (GBV)

  • Robberies (including armed business and street robberies)

  • Narcotics and Drug Trafficking

In addition, the SCU is committed to addressing the issue of illegal immigration, specifically the smuggling of undocumented individuals across South African borders. The Unit aims to track and apprehend those involved in human smuggling and to ensure accountability for employers who illegally exploit undocumented foreign nationals.

The Street Crimes Unit plays a crucial role in restoring safety, enforcing the law, and protecting vulnerable populations, always with zero tolerance for criminal behavior.
