History
Founding Statement:
Established in 2020 by Marius Cloete, a dedicated former member of the South African Police Service (SAPS). The vision behind the formation of this entity was to provide free assistance to the public and play an active role in combating crime within communities.
Marius Cloete served in SAPS from 1995 to 2013, gaining extensive experience as part of a specialized rapid reaction unit focused on serious crimes such as murder and armed robbery. His deep understanding of criminal activity and effective law enforcement strategies laid the foundation for the formation of Anti-Hijacking & Policing SA.
In 2020, recognizing the growing need for independent support in crime prevention and crime scene management, he took the initiative to establish a dedicated unit that could assist Law Enforcement authorities. The goal was to preserve the integrity of crime scenes and ensure that crucial evidence remained uncontaminated—ultimately contributing to successful investigations and arrests.
To formalize these efforts, a legal entity was registered as a private company (PTY LTD) with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC), operating primarily in Gauteng and Mpumalanga. Despite the official status, all services were offered free of charge to the public, reflecting a deep commitment to community safety.
However, operating a crime-combating unit came with substantial financial burdens.
All expenses—ranging from fuel and vehicle maintenance to uniforms and essential equipment—were covered out of pocket. Despite these challenges, Marius Cloete and his team remained committed to their mission, driven by a passion for justice and public service.
In 2024, the decision was made to formally register the organization as a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) under the name National Anti-Hijacking Police (NPO). Shortly thereafter, due to politically motivated attacks by corrupt elements within law enforcement leadership—despite the name having been lawfully granted by the government—the organization underwent a name change in accordance with the Nonprofit Organizations Act, Section 19(2)(a) & (b).
The organization is now officially known as the Drug Enforcement Agency NPO.
As the Drug Enforcement Agency NPO, we remain steadfast in our mission and are committed to reaching new heights. Our strategic vision includes expanding our operations nationwide within the next five years, continuing to serve and protect communities with integrity, dedication, and professionalism.
Collaboration and Mission Statement – DRUG ENFORCEMENT AGENCY NPO
Ninety percent of our operations are carried out in direct collaboration with the South African Police Service (SAPS) and other carefully selected law enforcement agencies. These partnerships are strategically established to prevent interference by corrupt elements within law enforcement. Our operational teams are comprised of handpicked specialists chosen specifically for their integrity, professionalism, and commitment to upholding the law without compromise. This rigorous selection process is a key factor in our high success rate in combating crime.
Our primary objective is to serve and protect the public against violent criminal elements. Unlike certain security companies that exploit crime-fighting efforts for financial gain, we remain focused solely on public safety. Our team consists of a small group of highly dedicated individuals who volunteer their own time to make a meaningful contribution to crime prevention. Their selfless commitment plays a vital role in making South Africa a safer place for our communities and future generations.
We enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy toward any form of crime OR corruption. We ensure that offenders face the full weight of justice through the legal system. Our organization has assisted SAPS in several high-profile investigations, including the case of Michael Jacobus Willemans, who was wanted for over two and a half years. In partnership with Welkom detectives, we worked tirelessly on this case until we successfully executed the arrest.
Most recently, our work was recognized on a national platform. We were invited to appear on the Huisgenoot Ware Lewensdramas program, produced by Faffa Nel and aired on DSTV Channel 147 on 8 April 2024, highlighting our contributions to crime fighting in South Africa.
